Hiland backed up its billing as one of the area's best girls basketball teams with an easy win against Garaway. The Hawks, who feature some of the area's best, ran out to a 11-2 first quarter lead and then just put it into cruise from there. Valparaiso recruit Launa Hochstetler led the locals with 11 points and handed out three assists. Her twin sister Leah Hochstetler, also a Valpo recruit, added five points and three more assists. Krista Beechy tossed in eight points and Katie Conn fired in seven. Hiland held a 26-21 edge on the glass, 13-5 advantage in steals and a commanding upper hand of 12-3 from the free throw line.
