COLUMBUS -- The girls basketball machine at Hiland High School added another successful chapter to its legend.
The Hawks, ranked No. 2 in the final Associated Press poll, took down No. 1 Columbus Africentric in the Div. IV championship game of the 33rd Annual State Girls Basketball Tournament.
Hiland, fueled by a 24-0 run in the second and third quarters, beat the supposedly unstoppable Nubians to the tune of 44-37.
Although this year's set of players seemed to be just another title team in the basketball-crazy town, they were unique in their own way.
